Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical and Saudi Arabian Oil Co (Saudi Aramco) have formally announced the completion of their major petrochemical plant in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia.
The ¥1tr (about $33bn) plant has the capacity to produce 1.3 million t/y of ethylene, according to The Japan Times.

Petrochemicals manufactured at the new facility will be exported to China and other parts of Asia, Sumitomo said.
The plant started operations in April 2009.
