Reliance Industries said it has made a “significant” fourth oil discovery in an exploratory block in the Cambay Basin, India.

The CB10A-F1 well has been drilled to a depth of 1,605m in Part A of the block to explore the play fairway in the Miocene Basal Sand (MBS) of Babaguru formation.

The firm has identified two hydrocarbon-bearing zones 1,397-1,407m and 1,378-1,382m and conventional production testing was carried out in one of the zones in the interval 1,397-1,400m.

The well flowed at 300bopd through a 6mm bean with a flowing tubing head pressure of 250 psi.

Indian energy firm RIL said that the discovery was significant because it will open more oil pool areas with hydrocarbon potential in the block.

The block CB-ONN-2003 / 1 is located 130km from Ahmedabad in Gujarat in the Cambay basin.
