Sempra energy subsidiary Sempra Pipelines & Storage has acquired the Mexican pipeline and gas infrastructure assets of El Paso for $300m.
Under the deal, Sempra acquired a seven-mile natural gas pipeline and a compressor station in Mexico’s Sonora, which transports natural gas from US to a Mexico power plant supplying power to the Comisión Federal de Electricidad.

The firm also acquired a 50% interest in a joint venture with PEMEX that operates two natural gas pipelines and a propane system in northern Mexico.
The JV operates a 23-mile Samalayuca natural gas pipeline along with Gloria a Dios compressor station in Chihuahua supplying natural gas from the US to various Mexican power plants.
The venture also runs a second 70-mile San Fernando gas pipeline in Tamaulipas and a 114-mile pipeline transporting liquid propane from the Burgos production area to a delivery facility near Monterrey.
The acquired infrastructure is supported by customer contracts with an average duration of 13 years.
