Chinese refiner Sinopec plans to increase its 2010 crude refining capacity by 10% compared with 2009 to meet increasing domestic demand.

Sinopec refining business deputy director Chen Yaohuan told China Daily that the firm’s oil refining capacity has seen a 10% year-on-year growth in the past few years.

In 2009, the refiner processed 228 million tonnes of crude oil, according to China Daily.

Sinopec has a cluster of 35 refineries in the country with an average production capacity of 6.85 million tonnes per year.
