Elk Petroleum plans to perform extended production tests at its Ash Creek Field Trusler 1 oil well in Wyoming, US.
The last swab run at the well showed that oil flowed at a rate of 350-450 barrels of fluid per day with an oil cut of 18%.

The average oil cut for the field when it was abandoned in 1998 was 3%.
Based on this figure Elk plans to proceed with an extended production test to enable better assessment of the well’s potential.
The test will also provide a basis for further re-entries of previously abandoned Ash Creek wells.
Elk has moved propane-powered pump rods to the Trusler 1 well from its Sand Draw South oilfield and a work-over rig will be fitted on 9 July 2010 before installing the pumps.
