Japan’s Saibu Gas has received its first delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia’s Sakhalin II export project.

LNG carrier Sun Arrows, which was loaded with 8,500t of LNG, arrived at the Nagasaki terminal in south-west Japan, according to Reuters.

Saibu Gas has a contract to buy 8,500t of Sakhalin II LNG a year for 24 years from 2010.

The firm also has a long-term contract to buy over 350,000t of LNG a year from Malaysia.
