AMEC will extend a gas storage facility for EDF Energy in Cheshire, UK, worth over £60m ($93.5m).

For the Hill Top Farm facility AMEC will design, install and commission the filtration and compression facilities, as well as after-cooling, dehydration, metering and utility equipment.

Engineering is expected to begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in July 2012, after which AMEC will be ready for future asset maintenance work.

Mark O’Brien, EDF Energy director, UK Gas Storage, said that the project will provide valuable capacity at a time when the UK is looking to increase its gas storage capabilities and support EDF Energy’s gas strategy to offer secure supplies to power stations and customers.
