The remediation contract has been funded by the United Nations Compensation Committee (UNCC), with KOC acting as the managing agent and contracting entity.

AMEC Environment and Infrastructure business president Dr. Hisham Mahmoud said that the company intends to expand its relationship with KOC by mobilising its global environmental and project management expertise to support this important project.

"We recognise the significance of this project to Kuwait and the United Nations, and are committed to its success," added Mahmoud.

AMEC regional director Middle East and North Africa region Ross Gibson said that its long term oil and gas presence in the country and specialist environment and infrastructure expertise has led to being awarded this contract.
