US-based Caza Oil & Gas has begun drilling of unit 32 No. 2H horizontal well at the Lennox prospect in Lea County, New Mexico, US.

The company will drill the 2H horizontal well to a total vertical depth of about 11,850ft with a total measured depth of about 14,740ft. Bone Spring Sands will be the primary target, with potential secondary targets in Delaware, Lower Brushy Canyon, Avalon Shale and Wolfcamp.

Caza sold a 7.5% working interest on a promoted basis and traded a 20% working interest on an acreage basis between Lennox and Madera/Roja Prospects, and now holds a 40% working interest before payout, and 50% working interest after payout in the Lennox State Unit 32 No. 2H well.

"These are very good projects, and we look forward to participating in test wells to be drilled on them along with a development well at Copperline later this year."

The company completed a working interest deal before commencing drilling at Lennox for interests in leases on two new projects called Madera and Roja prospects.

A 280 acre lease, Roja is located about 18 miles south of the Copperline Prospect, while Madera is a 1,400 acre lease located about 20 miles south of Copperline.

Caza has filed an application, seeking permission to drill the Caza Ridge 14 State No. 4H horizontal well in the Copperline prospect, where it has a 58.75% working interest.

The well, which is expected to be drilled by the end of 2013, will be a direct offset to the Caza Ridge 14 State No. 3H horizontal 3rd Bone Spring well.

The company will hold a 58.75% working interest in the Caza Ridge 14 State No. 4H well.

Caza said its Quail "16" State No. 4H horizontal well has reached its intended depth of 15,605ft measured depth and will be completed in the 3rd Bone Spring Sand.
