CB&I has won a contract to provide engineering and procurement services for the Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar, Russia.

The contract was awarded by NefteGazIndustriya, via project developer MAVEG.

Under the contract, CB&I will provide early detail engineering and procurement services for several new process units, including a 2.5 million ton per annum hydrocracker unit licensed by Chevron Lummus Global.

The company will also provide services for hydrogen and sulfur units licensed by CB&I and other related units.

CB&I engineering, construction and maintenance operating group president Patrick Mullen said: "This award follows on the successful delivery of the front end engineering and design of the Afipsky Oil Refinery.

"The contract is a reflection of NefteGazIndustriya’s confidence in our ability to offer our customers a more complete supply chain solution–showcasing our expertise in technology as well as engineering, procurement and construction management."

Afipsky refinery is located in the village of Afipsky, 18 km south-east of the city of Krasnodar and 130 km from the port of Novorossiysk. The current capacity of the facility is 5.25 million tons per year.

NefteGazIndustriya supplies feedstock for its further processing at Afipsky refinery. The company is currently focused on the modernisation of refining capacities and increasing the quality of products.
