The presence of an oil column was revealed at 1,800 feet.

Coastal Energy president and CEO Randy Bartley said the well penetrated the same reservoir as the A-01 well close to its downdip limit, which helped the company to delineate the size of the Oligocene discovery.

Bartley admitted, however, that his company was disappointed by the lack of hyrdocarbons at Bua Ban South A-03.

"It [A-03] was a higher risk prospect given its location outside of the main bounding fault," added Randy.
