3m of net oil pay over a 7m gross interval in high quality McKinlay/Namur sanstones was discovered at the well. It will be cased and suspended as a future oil production well.
The location of the well consists of an independent Namur Sandstone structural closure and a larger northern extension of the Bauer oil field.
To confirm if the Bauer North-1 discovery is part of the overall Bauer Oil Field, an appraisal drilling, including drilling of the Bauer-9 appraisal/development well, will be conducted.
The well will be drilled by the PEL Joint Venture, in which Drillsearch holds 60% stake and as Operator Beach Energy holds a 40% interest, and be tied into the Bauer central production facility after completion.

By GlobalData"The Bauer North-1 well provides future supply to the Bauer central production facility and demonstrates the significant and growing expanse of this productive oil field," said Drillsearch Energy’s managing director Brad Lingo.
Once the drilling of Bauer North-1 is complete, the Ensign 930 rig will move to the Bauer oil field to begin drilling of Bauer-9, the next appraisal well.
