Ryder System has announced that it has signed a full-service lease agreement with Eagle Distributing of Shreveport for 23 compressed natural gas (CNG) tractors.
As part of the deal, the CNG tractors will replace Eagle’s existing diesel-powered delivery fleet.

Eagle will use the leased vehicles to make deliveries around its service territory of nine parishes in north-west Louisiana.
The company is also planning to construct a natural gas fuelling station near its headquarters in Shreveport. Ryder will provide maintenance services for the 23 CNG vehicles from its Shreveport service facility.
Eagle Distributing operations manager, Doug Jones, said that with the new vehicles, greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced from 878t to 670t by 24%.
Eagle Distributing president, Brad Nichols, said the advanced technology compressed natural gas vehicles will replace diesel counterparts, while produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Ryder Fleet Management Solutions president Dennis Cooke said many companies are using CNG vehicles not only to reduce and control fuel costs, but also to control carbon output, which helps them meet the environmental objectives.
Ryder will also lease and rent natural gas vehicles in markets in California, Arizona, and Michigan, in the US.
