SNC-Lavalin has signed a $133.6m contract with Petroleos de Venezuela to provide project management services for the Delta Caribe Oriental project in Sucre state, north-east Venezuela.
The project comprises of four offshore gas fields in Dragon, Patao, Mejillones and Rio Caribe. It also includes Complejo Industrial Gran Mariscal Ayacucho, an onshore development.

Petroleos de Venezuela offshore division general manager Douglas Sosa said this type of technological alliance in the offshore sector expands the knowledge across its company’s businesses.
“Taking into account the magnitude of our projects, we have decided to create a high-performance team with state-of-the-art technology and the experience we need to develop the gas supply belt and the social infrastructure required in Sucre State,” he said.
SNC-Lavalin’s project management team will oversee work of contractors who will provide engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning services for the offshore and onshore facilities.
