IHI E&C is currently carrying out the front-end engineering design (FEED) for the plant.
Following successful execution of FEED and finalisation of the EPC contract, the company plans to perform detailed engineering, procurement, construction and completions for the plant.
In the plant, natural gas is first transformed to synthesis gas or syngas, a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The syngas is then converted to methanol, which can be transformed to 87-octane gasoline.
Sundrop will also use the plant to test its gasification technology, which aims to produce green gasoline from woody biomass.
