OCIMF-compliant single-point mooring systems

Deepwater polyester rope mooring systems

OIL offers submerged turret-loading buoy and floating production platforms from Lankhorst Ropes, the world's leading supplier of deepwater polyester rope mooring systems. Lankhorst Ropes' range of deepwater mooring products includes GAMA 98® polyester rope tethers, Moduline® polyester ropes and GAMA 98® rope made with DYNEEMA®.

Major deepwater mooring projects handled by OIL include Thunder Hawk DeepDraft Semi, Tahiti production Spar, and a recent FPSO project – all located in the Gulf of Mexico.

Deepwater mooring ropes

Deepwater mooring ropes are manufactured at the Lankhorst Ropes factory located near Oporto, Portugal. One of the most modern rope factories in the world, the 27,000m² factory is dedicated to the design, production and testing of offshore and deepwater mooring ropes.

The accuracy of the polyester mooring line lengths is critical to the smooth installation of mooring lines. Lankhorst Ropes was the first company to develop a unique length measuring system (LMS) for length measurement under a controlled tension during rope manufacture. The rope is pre-tensioned to 1% MBL (maximum 20t) for length measurement in 75m increments.

Fibre rope connectors for deepwater mooring

Offspring International is a joint developer of the innovative LankoFirst range of deepwater fibre connectors for rope-rope, rope-wire and rope-chain connections.

The LankoFirst range of fibre rope connectors revolutionises the ease with which deepwater fibre mooring lines are connected and deployed offshore. The connectors give naval architects and installation contractors a dedicated deepwater fibre mooring connector that is smaller, lighter, stronger and more efficient than current plate links and thimbles. Moreover, they are easier to make-up and the rope splice is slimmer, and therefore lighter, for the same MBL.
