The safety of machinery is getting more important, especially where essential jobs are undertaken. Without doubt, BOP handling is one of these jobs. The reworking of leading standards like the amendment of the NORSOK represents this. In the future, the NORSOK Standard will specify an emergency lowering device which has to ensure a safe lowering of the load in case of a cut in the main power supply.

JDN have recognised this trend and answered with an appropriate solution, before the new standard is released.
All monorail hoists with capacities from 25t to 60t can be equipped with this new option.

Monorail hoists with this option are fitted with an air tank and two additional push buttons on the hand control valve. This will provide real two-hand operation to avoid unintended lowering. The first button switches between normal operation and emergency lowering. The second
button opens the integrated operational brake and the load is lowered by its dead weight.

The separate air tank, which is refilled during normal operation, maintains the brake function. The air tank is also protected with a check valve. The emergency device can be certified by Det Norske Veriras on demand.
