SAL was awarded a contract to transport the largest stinger ramps ever built from Rotterdam to Singapore. MV Annette carried out this challenging shipment in April 2012.

For the oversized cargo, which had a unit weight of up to 880t and dimensions of up to 42.50m x 15.10m x 18.00m, SAL’s engineering department designed a complex understructure for weight distribution on deck. What’s more, both engineering and manufacturing of the weight spreading system had to be done in a very short time. The stinger ramps were then loaded and discharged by floating crane.

In Singapore, the stinger ramps were assembled to complete the building of MV Castorone, which will become the world’s largest pipe laying vessel.
