Of these, 337 represent planned pipelines with identified development plans, while 196 show the count of early-stage announced pipelines that are undergoing conceptual studies and are expected to get development approval.
Asia also leads globally in terms of new build pipeline length with an oil and gas pipeline length of 64,506km by 2027. North America and Africa follow with lengths of 20,525km and 19,793km, respectively.

The longest pipeline expected to start operations by 2027 is the Xinjiang–Guangdong–Zhejiang SNG gas pipeline in China with a length of 8,972km. West–East IV gas pipeline, also in China, and the Gwadar–Kashgar oil pipeline in Pakistan follow with lengths of 3,340km, and 3,021km, respectively.
