A total of 533 planned and announced trunk/transmission oil and gas pipelines are expected to come online globally during the outlook period 2023–2027. Of these, 337 represent planned pipelines with identified development plans, while 196 show the count of early-stage announced pipelines that are undergoing conceptual studies and are expected to get development approval.

Asia also leads globally in terms of new build pipeline length with an oil and gas pipeline length of 64,506km by 2027. North America and Africa follow with lengths of 20,525km and 19,793km, respectively.

India leads among countries globally with a planned and announced pipeline length of 29,751km from 2023 to 2027. China and the US follow with pipeline lengths of 21,768km, and 12,261km, respectively.

The longest pipeline expected to start operations by 2027 is the XinjiangGuangdong–Zhejiang SNG gas pipeline in China with a length of 8,972km. West–East IV gas pipeline, also in China, and the Gwadar–Kashgar oil pipeline in Pakistan follow with lengths of 3,340km, and 3,021km, respectively.
