Wintershall Norge has completed drilling of two wildcat wells, 35/8-6 S and 35/8-6 A, that are located 5km northwest of Vega field in the North Sea.
The wells were drilled in a bid to discover petroleum in the region’s upper jurassic reservoir rocks.

While drilling 35/8-6 S revealed a poorly developed reservoir, drilling 35/8-6 A unveiled a 3m oil column in the rock’s heather formation.
Preliminary estimates on the size of the discovery range between 0.2 and 1 million standard cubic metres of recoverable oil.
Extensive data collection and sampling have been carried out following the drilling.
The two wells were drilled to a measured depth of 4,043m and 3,800ml and to a vertical depth of 3,713m and 3,529m, respectively.

The company will now drill wildcat well 35/11-19 S, which also operated by Wintershall Norge under production licence 248.
