SNC-Lavalin has won a engineering services contract with PDVSA Engineering & Construction for the Empresa Mixta Petromacareo Project in the Orinoco Oil Belt, Venezuela.
The firm will conduct conceptual engineering for the extra heavy crude oil production, treatment, storage and transport facilities at the Junin 2 North Block in Venezuela’s Orinoco Oil Belt.

The oil belt north of the Orinoco River has significant heavy oil reserves and is a focus area for PDVSA to augment its oil production.
SNC-Lavalin has also signed an umbrella technical services agreement for implementing the projects in the oil belt, and Petromacareo is the first under the agreement.
The block is jointly held by PDVSA and PetroVietnam.
