Canada-based gas producer NG Energy International (NGE) has brought into production the Aruchara-6 well at the Maria Conchita Block, with drilling also under way at the Sinú-9 block in Colombia.

The company tied the well into the central processing facility (CPF) at Maria Conchita following drilling to a depth of 9,352ft, where wireline logs and surface tests indicated gas throughout the H1 to H6 formations.

During initial flow testing through the plant on a 30/64 choke, Aruchara-6 yielded gross rates of up to 8.7 million cubic feet per day (mcf/d), representing 6.96mcf/d net, at an average tubing head pressure of 780 pounds per square inch.

Connecting the well is projected to raise overall Maria Conchita output to 23mcf/d gross, or 18.4mcf/d net, based on the company’s 80% working interest.

Output stood at 16mcf/d gross prior to the well’s commissioning.

Together with production from the Sinú-9 Block, the operator expects total corporate net output to reach roughly 29.1mcf/d.

While existing agreements cover 15mcf/d of gross contracted offtake from Maria Conchita, additional volumes are being directed to the domestic spot market.

Realised spot sales have averaged approximately $14–16 per thousand cubic feet, with certain transactions surpassing $20.

To support higher throughput towards the facility’s 30mcf/d capacity, infrastructure partner GTX International is adding compression and upgrading cooling, dehydration and heat exchange units by late October 2026.

Concurrently, consortium partner Maurel & Prom Colombia spudded the Encantado-1X delineation well on 6 October 2026 at Sinú-9, where at least one further well is scheduled this year.

In January 2026, Maurel & Prom acquired a 61% working interest and operatorship in the Sinu-9 gas licence for a total consideration of $229m (€196.14m), while NG Energy holds a 39% non-operating working interest.

The Encantado-1X well is designed to map the reservoir’s southern boundary, test for liquids and assess deeper Pre-CDO gas potential under higher reservoir pressures.

Transportation infrastructure at Sinú-9 has also expanded following the completion of a pipeline loop by INFRAES.

The link increased gross pipeline capacity from 30mcf/d to between 40mcf/d–45mcf/d, giving NG Energy a net transportation entitlement of 15.6mcf/d–17.6mcf/d.

NGE CEO Jorge Fonseca said: “Aruchara-6 has delivered positive gas results and is now tied into our main processing facility and producing, having flowed at up to 8.7mcf/d during well testing.

“The addition of the well is expected to bring total field production at Maria Conchita up to 23mcf/d. With the block now approaching the capacity of our processing facility, the upgrades GTX is completing over the coming weeks will ensure the CPF runs reliably at these higher throughput levels.”
