Norwegian multi-client geoscience data provider TGS has finished reprocessing of 21,631km² of 2D seismic data.
The information comes from a survey offshore Sakhalin Island in the Sea of Okhotsk, Russia.

The company said the first data has been sent to pre-funding customers and is now available to all industry clients. TGS worked with Russian partner DMNG to cover the ‘highly prospective’ area.
TGS CEO Kristian Johansen said: “Offshore Russia has long been an important region for TGS and the completion of the second phase of processing in the Sea of Okhotsk further strengthens our library of data here.
“There have been a number of significant discoveries of both oil and gas in recent years and our seismic data will be a core tool for explorers as they seek to further develop offshore hydrocarbon resources in the area in the years to come.”
It follows TGS’ 2D Phase 1 Clari-Fi broadband reprocessing of 18,970km2 of data last year. Together, the two packages will provide higher quality data for explorers and interpreters, assisting decision-making.

This February, the company started the Eastern Delta Refocus 3D ocean bottom seismic (OBS) imaging programme in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM).
In December last year, it sold one of its seismic datasets to Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) Climate Investments’ Net Zero Teesside carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) initiative.
