Global Vinyl Acetate Monomer capacity is poised to see considerable growth over the next five years, potentially increasing from 8.47Mtpa in 2020 to 10.18Mtpa in 2025, registering total growth of 20%.

GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global Vinyl Acetate Monomer Industry Outlook to 2025 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Active and Planned Plants,’ states that five planned and announced plants are slated to come online in Asia and Europe.

Within Asia, China has planned and announced a Vinyl Acetate Monomer capacity of about 0.36Mtpa by 2025. The country is expected to spend a capital expenditure (CAPEX) of $70.9m. Major capacity additions will be from a planned project, ShengHong Holding Group Lianyungang Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) Plant.

India is also expected to witness substantial announced capacity additions of 1.05Mtpa from only one plant, the Reliance Industries Jamnagar Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) Plant. Reliance O2C Ltd would start operations in 2025.

Europe has a total announced capacity of 0.30Mtpa from the Ineos Group Hull Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) Plant 2. The CAPEX for the plant is $193.7m.

Reliance Industries Ltd, Shenghong Petrochemical Group Co Ltd and Ineos Ltd would be the major companies globally in terms of planned and announced capacity additions by 2025.
