GlobalData’s latest analysis of global planned isomerization capacity of refineries shows that China has the highest capacity globally with 204.8 thousand barrels per day (mbd) from 2018 to 2021. Nigeria and Iran follow with 106.4mbd and 58.3mbd respectively.
Presently, China accounts for 29% of the total global planned isomerization capacity additions in 2021. A total of four planned refineries with isomerization capacity of 204.8mbd are expected to start operations by 2021. Among these, Dayushan Island refinery has the highest isomerization capacity of 85.2mbd, followed by Jieyang and Dalian III refineries with a capacity of 44.0mbd and 42.6mbd respectively.
Nigeria contributes about 15% of the total global planned isomerization capacity additions in 2021. The country has three planned refineries with isomerization capacity of 106.4mbd, which are expected to start operations by 2021. Lagos I refinery has the highest isomerization capacity of 69.2mbd, followed by Ibafon and Ibeno I refineries with capacities of 26.6mbd and 10.6mbd respectively.
Iran will contribute about 8% of total global planned isomerization capacity additions by 2021. The country has three planned refineries with isomerization capacity of 58.3mbd. Pars refinery has the highest isomerization capacity of 30mbd, followed by Kermanshah II and MazandaranI refineries with capacities of 16mbd and 12.3mbd respectively.
