
GlobalData’s latest analysis of the European Union (EU) liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification capacity shows that Spain has the highest LNG regasification capacity in the EU with 2,232 billion cubic feet (bcf) in 2018. The UK and France follows with 1,999bcf and 1,209bcf respectively.
Presently, Spain accounts for 29% of the total LNG regasification capacity in the EU. The country has six active LNG regasification terminals. It is expected to add a capacity of 141bcf from two planned and announced LNG regasification terminals during 2018 to 2021.
The UK has 26% share in the total EU regasification capacity in 2018. The country has three active terminals and one planned project that is expected to add a capacity of 177bcf during 2018 to 2021.
France contributes about 16% of the EU LNG regasification capacity. The country has four active LNG regasification terminals. Presently there are no planned or announced terminals in the country.

The fourth largest contributor to the EU LNG regasification capacity is the Netherlands with 565bcf, contributing about 7% of the total. The country has one active terminal. At present, the country does not have any planned and announced LNG regasification terminals

Belgium accounts for 4% of the LNG regasification capacity in the EU with 318bcf in 2018. The country has only one active terminal. Presently there are no planned and announced projects that would start operations during 2018 to 2021.
Portugal, Greece, Poland, and Lithuania together account for 11% of the LNG regasification capacity in the EU with a cumulative 834bcf in 2018. An announced terminal in Greece is expected to add a capacity of 215bcf during 2018 to 2021. In Poland also, an announced terminal is expected to add a capacity of 286bcf.
