GlobalData’s latest report, “Global LNG Industry Outlook to 2026 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook with Details of All Operating and Planned Terminals”, indicates that the total regasification capacity of Europe in 2021 was 7,266Bcf. The regasification capacity in Europe increased from 6,602Bcf in 2016 to 7,266Bcf in 2021 at an AAGR of 1.9%. South Hook (United Kingdom), Isle of Grain (United Kingdom) and Barcelona (Spain) are the major active regasification terminals in Europe.

Spain leads among countries in Europe with a regasification capacity of 2,188Bcf in 2021, contributing 30.1% of the region’s total capacity. Barcelona, Cartagena, and Huelva are the major active regasification terminals in the country.

The UK ranks second with a total regasification capacity of 1,721Bcf in 2021. The UK holds 23.7% of Europe’s total regasification capacity. South Hook, Isle of Grain, and Dragon are the three active regasification terminals in the country.

In Europe, France stands in the third position among countries with a regasification capacity of 1,209Bcf, contributing to 16.6% of the region’s total regasification capacity in 2021. Dunkirk, Montoir de Bretagne, Fos Cavaou, and Fos Tonkin are the four active regasification terminals in the country.
