GlobalData’s latest report, “Global Capacity and Capital Expenditure Outlook for Gas Processing Plants, 2022–2026,” indicates that, as of January 2022, North America had 1,782 active gas processing plants with a total gas processing capacity of 227.8 billion cubic feet per day (Bcfd). The region’s share in the global gas processing capacity is 37%.

In North America, the US leads with an active gas processing capacity of 129.9Bcfd. Prudhoe Bay, Channahon and Meeker are the major active gas processing plants in the country.

Canada is the second-highest country with an active gas processing capacity of 87.3Bcfd. Empress, Empress II and Cochrane are the major active gas processing plants in the country. Mexico follows with an active gas processing capacity of 10.6Bcfd. Cactus, Nuevo Pemex and Ciudad Pemex are the major active gas processing plants in the country.
