The ALD-PIG is an autonomous version of the Acoustic Leak Detector to be inserted in a foam PIG and record data along the pipelines to be tested.

The unit supplied to the Greek Company Constantinidis S.A. was equipped with an integrated magnetometer to detect concrete blocks and bend restrictors along the run allowing accurate positioning. The field test confirmed the positive detection of the simulated leak and magnetic targets.

In November 2023 the foam pig with the ALD unit was launched into the HDPE DN630-12,5bar water pipeline connecting Aegina island to Salamina island. The PIG was recovered at the other end of the 14 km submarine water pipeline after 19 hours. Data were downloaded and processed by ALD software, allowing positive pipeline testing.
