Caspian Offshore Construction is pleased to announce a contract awarded by North Caspian Operating Company NV (NCOC) for mobilisation, operation and maintenance of the passenger/cargo carrying Hovercraft Caspian Falcon, formerly known as Suna X.

Caspian Falcon will be providing all-year-round inter-field services in the Kashagan Oilfield offshore Kazakhstan transporting personnel and cargo and may also be used on routes connecting offshore installations and onshore facilities.

COC first started to investigate the international market, looking into various suitable hovercraft options some years ago culminating in the signing of this contract.

“We are obviously very excited about this new opportunity, which as per COC motto does “widen horizons” of our operation.  We would like to thank everyone who was engaged into this challenging project for their terrific effort and continuous support”, says Mr Timur Sharapiev, COC Director, General.

“Caspian Falcon is a bespoke craft, which will enhance the versatility of the existing offshore support fleet of operations within the North Caspian Project”, comments Mr Anthony Atkinson, COC Project Manager, who conducted the initial Caspian Falcon inspection in Akutan, Alaska, US.

Caspian Falcon was delivered to the Caspian sea from Alaska via Southampton, UK, and Istanbul, Turkey, by a heavy lift transport vessel in September 2018.

“Caspianisation” upgrade works were carried out in Southampton by Griffon Hoverworks Ltd under the auspices of COC project management team.

The craft commenced operations on 17 October 2018.
