
Canada oil & gas industry registered a 20.1% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.99% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.87% share in July 2021, recording an increase of 0.88% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.94% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada oil & gas industry in July 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 48.94% in July 2021, a 100% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 27.66% share, an increase of 116.67% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.64%, registering a 25% rise from June 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.38%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 383.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada oil & gas industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
Exxon Mobil posted 21 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 2000% over the previous month, followed by Suncor Energy with 14 jobs and a 100% growth. TC Energy with 11 IT jobs and John Wood Group with 7 jobs, recorded a 1000% growth and a 133.33% increase, respectively, while Worley recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.7%, up by 61.11% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.79% share, a growth of 47.37% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.51% share, up 60% over June 2021.
