India oil & gas industry registered a 5.5% decline in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.27% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.62% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 0.46% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.78% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India oil & gas industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 67.07% in July 2021, a 14.33% drop over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 14.39% share, decline of 14.49% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 10.49%, registering a 4.88% rise from June 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.41%, up 7.69% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in India IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 14.9% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India oil & gas industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

Reliance Industries posted 108 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a drop of 15.63% over the previous month, followed by Royal Dutch Shell with 63 jobs and a 21.25% drop. Baker Hughes Holdings with 44 IT jobs and Exxon Mobil with 43 jobs, recorded a 62.96% growth and a 32.81% decline, respectively, while PI Industries recorded a 22% decline with 39 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.07%, down by 6.46% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25.12% share, a decline of 16.26% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.8% share, down 45.76% over June 2021.
