
Malaysia oil & gas industry registered a 17.9% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 1.92% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 12.43% share in June 2021, recording an increase of 1.21% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Malaysia oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia oil & gas industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 74.42% in June 2021, a 100% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 11.63% share, an increase of 150% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 9.3%, registering a 20% decline from May 2021.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 2.33%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Malaysia IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 94.44% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia oil & gas industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
BASF posted 12 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 200% over the previous month, followed by Evonik Industries with 10 jobs and a flat growth. BP with 7 IT jobs and Johnson Matthey with 4 jobs, recorded a 250% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Exxon Mobil recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.47%, up by 23.81% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.56% share, a growth of 250% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.98% share, up 200% over May 2021.
