According to GlobalData’s company profile on TotalEnergies, AI assisted CAD was a key innovation area identified from patents. TotalEnergies's grant share as of September 2023 was 62%. Grant share is based on the ratio of number of grants to total number of patents.

A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11759411B2) describes a method for anti-aging cosmetic treatment of the skin or hair using a specific composition. The method involves applying a composition that consists of at least 90% by weight of a hydrocarbon oil with certain characteristics. The hydrocarbon oil must have a content of isoparaffins ranging from 90 to 100% and a content of normal paraffins ranging from 0 to 10%. Additionally, the hydrocarbon oil must have a carbon content of biological origin greater than or equal to 90%. The composition also includes a compound of the quaternary ammonium type or the isothiazolinone type, in an amount of less than 10% by weight.

The method described in the patent claims to slow down skin aging, prevent and/or delay the formation of wrinkles, attenuate wrinkles, tighten the skin, and strengthen hair. The application of the composition is intended for topical use, and the method involves spreading the composition on the skin or hair.

The hydrocarbon oil used in the composition has specific characteristics. It may contain a content of isoparaffins ranging from 95 to 100% and can be chosen from non-cyclic isoparaffins with 14 to 18 carbon atoms. The hydrocarbon oil should have a content of normal paraffins less than or equal to 5%, a content of naphthenic compounds less than or equal to 1%, and a content of aromatic compounds less than or equal to 500 ppm. The hydrocarbon oil should also have a boiling temperature ranging from 230 to 340°C, a flash point greater than or equal to 110°C, and a vapor pressure at 20°C less than or equal to 0.01 kPa. It is obtained through a method of catalytic hydrogenation at a temperature from 80 to 180°C and a pressure from 50 to 160 bars using a deoxygenated and/or isomerized feedstock of biological origin.

The composition may also include a compound of the quaternary ammonium type, such as benzalkonium chloride or didecyldimethylammonium chloride, alone or in a mixture. The compound represents from 0.1 ppm to 1% by weight of the total weight of the composition.

In summary, this patent describes a method and composition for anti-aging cosmetic treatment of the skin or hair. The composition includes a specific hydrocarbon oil with defined characteristics and a compound of the quaternary ammonium or isothiazolinone type. The method claims to have various anti-aging effects on the skin and hair, including slowing down skin aging, preventing and/or delaying wrinkles, attenuating wrinkles, tightening the skin, and strengthening hair.
