The value marked a decrease of 41.8% over the previous month of $20.97bn and a drop of 36.6% when compared with the last 12-month average of $19.25bn.

In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 18.58% with 92 deals in August 2021 when compared to the last 12-month average of 113 deals.

In value terms, North America led the activity with deals worth $6.23bn in August 2021.
