Total oil & gas industry M&A deals in July 2019 worth $19.36bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 94.2% over the previous month and a drop of 53.3% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $41.49bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $9.94bn. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $9.89bn.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for oil & gas industry M&A deals globally, followed by Europe and then Asia-Pacific.

The top country in terms of M&A deals activity in July 2019 was the US with 44 deals, followed by the UK with 12 and China with 11.

In 2019, as of the end of July 2019, oil & gas M&A deals worth $264.96bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 6.2% year on year.

The top five oil & gas industry M&A deals accounted for 48% of the overall value during July 2019.

The combined value of the top five oil & gas M&A deals stood at $9.28bn, against the overall value of $19.36bn recorded for the month.

The top five oil & gas industry deals of July 2019 tracked by GlobalData were:

1) Callon Petroleum's $4.92bn acquisition of Carrizo Oil & Gas

2) The $1.28bn acquisition of Columbia Midstream Group by UGI

3) DP World's $1.08bn acquisition of Topaz Energy and Marine

4) The $1.05bn asset transaction with Petroleo Brasileiro by Trident Energy

5) Equinor's asset transaction with Lundin Petroleum for $962m.
