Oil & Gas industry venture financing deals total $917.92m in North America in Q1 2021

Led by $103m venture financing of Anuvia Plant Nutrients Holdings, total oil & gas industry venture financing deals worth $917.92m were announced in North America in Q1 2021, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 403.4% over the previous quarter and a rise of 47.8% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $621.06m.

North America held a 92.35% share of the global oil & gas industry venture financing deal value that totalled $993.93m in Q1 2021. With a 92.35% share and deals worth $917.92m, the US was the top country in North America’s venture financing deal value across oil & gas industry.

In terms of deal activity, North America recorded 55 deals during Q1 2021, marking an increase of 48.65% over the previous quarter and a drop of 3.08% over the last four-quarter average. The US recorded 55 deals during the month.

North America oil & gas industry venture financing deals in Q1 2021: Top deals

The top three venture financing deals accounted for 17.07% of the overall value during Q1 2021.

The combined value of the top three oil & gas venture financing deals stood at $156.76m, against the overall value of $917.92m recorded for the quarter.

The top three oil & gas deals of Q1 2021 tracked by GlobalData were:

1) L.P, Generate Capital, Piva, Pontifax Global Food and Agriculture Technology Fund and TPG Alternative and Renewable Technologies Partners’ $103m venture financing of Anuvia Plant Nutrients Holdings

2) The $30.76m venture financing of Sepax Technologies by China Life Health Fund and Fosun International

3) Equinor Ventures, Evok Innovations, GOOSE Capital, Horizons Ventures and The Engine’s $23m venture financing of Syzygy Plasmonics.
