September 2021 has seen a decrease of 6.41% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 7.38% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.27% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 62.19% in September 2021, a 10.43% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 14.66% in September 2021, marking a 137.14% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 14.49% in September 2021, a 20.39% drop from August 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 34.67% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Baker Hughes Holdings posted 56 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a decline of 18.84% over the previous month, followed by Royal Dutch Shell with 54 jobs and a 14.29% drop. Exxon Mobil with 46 IT jobs and Reliance Industries with 46 jobs, recorded a 14.81% drop and a 68.28% drop, respectively, while Yara International recorded a 2.27% decline with 43 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s oil & gas industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 59.72% share in September 2021, a 24.04% decrease over August 2021. China featured next with an 8.48% share, down 4% over the previous month. Malaysia recorded a 7.42% share, a growth of 82.61% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.13%, down by 5.46% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.74% share, registered a growth of 0.58% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.77% share, down 41.33% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.35%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
