US-based company Baker Hughes IT hiring declined 0.7% in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity increased by 3% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs claimed a 14.64% share in the company’s total hiring activity in December 2021, and recorded a 0.08% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Baker Hughes IT hiring in December 2021

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Baker Hughes, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 65.74% in December 2021, and a 23.66% drop over November 2021, while Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a share of 20.37% in December 2021, and registered growth of 46.67%. Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 5.56% in December 2021, a 50% rise from November 2021.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Baker Hughes

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in December 2021 with a 40.74% share, which marked a 12% drop over the previous month.

North America stood next with 25.93%, registering a 24.32% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with a 22.22% share and a 33.33% drop over November 2021.

In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 6.48% and a month-on-month increase of 133.33%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 4.63%, registering a 66.67% rise over the previous month.

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 29.63% share in December 2021, a 21.95% decline over November 2021. US featured next with a 25% share, down 18.18% over the previous month. Italy recorded a 9.26% share, an increase of 100% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level jobs lead Baker Hughes IT hiring activity in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.96%, down by 12.82% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.15% share, a decline of 37.5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.89% share, up 36.36% over November 2021.
