US-based company Baker Hughes IT hiring declined 18.4% in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 12% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

IT jobs claimed a 9.08% share in the company’s total hiring activity in June 2022, and recorded a 0.32% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Baker Hughes IT hiring in June 2022

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Baker Hughes, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 66.1% in June 2022, and a 32.76% drop over May 2022, while Computer Support Specialists claimed a share of 8.47% in June 2022, and registered a decline of 28.57%. Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 8.47% in June 2022, a 44.44% drop from May 2022.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Baker Hughes

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in June 2022 with a 50.85% share, which marked a 28.57% drop over the previous month.

North America stood next with 23.73%, registering a 30% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with a 15.25% share and a 47.06% drop over May 2022.

In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 8.47% and a month-on-month decline of 16.67%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.69%, registering a flat growth over the previous month.

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 45.76% share in June 2022, a 20.59% decline over May 2022. US featured next with a 20.34% share, down 29.41% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 5.08% share, a decline of 75% compared with May 2022.

Junior Level jobs lead Baker Hughes IT hiring activity in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.49%, down by 29.31% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.42% share, a decline of 40% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.08% share, up 50% over May 2022.
