US-based company Baker Hughes IT hiring rose 6.2% in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The company’s overall hiring activity increased by 8.54% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.
IT jobs claimed a 14.51% share in the company’s total hiring activity in January 2022, and recorded a 0.59% decline over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Baker Hughes IT hiring in January 2022
Out of the total IT job titles posted by Baker Hughes, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 67.14% in January 2022, and a 32.39% rise over December 2022, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 10.71% in January 2022, and registered growth of 200%. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.57% in January 2022, a 45.45% drop from December 2022.
Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Baker Hughes
Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in January 2022 with a 40% share, which marked a 27.27% rise over the previous month.
North America stood next with 30.71%, registering a 53.57% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with a 22.86% share and a 33.33% rise over December 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 3.57% and a month-on-month decline of 28.57%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 2.86%, registering a 20% drop over the previous month.
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 33.57% share in January 2022, a 46.88% growth over December 2022. US featured next with a 27.14% share, up 40.74% over the previous month. The UK recorded a 7.86% share, an increase of 175% compared with December 2022.
Junior Level jobs lead Baker Hughes IT hiring activity in January 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.43%, up by 57.35% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.14% share, a decline of 4% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 6.43% share, down 40% over December 2022.
