UK-based company BP’s IT hiring declined 9.3% in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 1.2% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

IT jobs claimed a 14.65% share in the company’s total hiring activity in July 2022, and recorded a 1.33% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops BP IT hiring in July 2022

Out of the total IT job titles posted by BP, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 27.45% in July 2022, and a 66.67% drop over June 2022, while Computer and Information Analysts claimed a share of 27.45% in July 2022, and registered growth of 7.69%. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 17.65% in July 2022, a 50% rise from June 2022.

Europe drives IT hiring at BP

Europe emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in July 2022 with a 54.9% share, which marked a flat growth over the previous month.

Asia-Pacific stood next with 33.33%, registering a 41.38% month-on-month decline. North America was the third leading region with an 11.76% share and a 60% drop over June 2022.

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 27.45% share in July 2022, a 12.5% decline over June 2022. India featured next with a 25.49% share, down 40.91% over the previous month. Hungary recorded a 25.49% share, an increase of 18.18% compared with June 2022.

Junior Level jobs lead BP IT hiring activity in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.82%, down by 31.82% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 33.33% share, a decline of 34.62% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.84% share, up 100% over June 2022.
