Brazil’s oil & gas industry registered a 12.6% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 9.89% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 14.08% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 2.15% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Brazil’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Brazil’s oil & gas industry in September 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 32.12% in September 2022, registering a 41.51% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 31.61% share, a flat growth over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 18.65%, registering a 23.4% decline from August 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 9.84%, up 5.56% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in Brazil’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 22.5% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Brazil’s oil & gas industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Ecopetrol posted 172 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 27.12% over the previous month, followed by Equinor with 6 jobs and a 200% growth. Vibra Energia with 5 IT jobs and TechnipFMC with 2 jobs, recorded a 400% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while UPL recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.61%, down by 29.41% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with an 18.13% share, registered an increase of 9.38% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 7.25% share, flat growth over August 2022.
