Brazil’s oil & gas industry registered a 5.1% drop in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.31% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 19.87% share in January 2022, recording a decrease of 1.25% over the last three-month average share.

 

Top five job classifications in Brazil’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.56% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Brazil’s oil & gas industry in January 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.07% in January 2022, registering a 12.23% growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 26.55% share, a decrease of 7.84% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 17.23%, registering a 14.08% decline from December 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.5%, down 39.47% over the previous month.

 

Top five oil & gas companies in Brazil’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 0.57% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Brazil’s oil & gas industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Ecopetrol posted 321 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a rise of 0.31% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 24 jobs and a 27.27% drop. SBM Offshore with 3 IT jobs and Equinor with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Kemira recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 80.51%, down by 1.04% from December 2022. Entry Level positions with a 14.41% share, registered a decline of 7.27% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 5.08% share, down 14.29% over December 2022.
