The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.8% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.61% share in March 2022, recording a decrease of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.63% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s oil & gas industry in March 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 34.25% in March 2022, registering a 10.71% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 27.4% share, an increase of 53.85% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 16.44%, registering a 300% rise from February 2022.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 13.7%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 88.24% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s oil & gas industry during March 2022 over February 2022.
Canadian Natural Resources posted 11 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a rise of 266.67% over the previous month, followed by Koch Industries with 6 jobs and a 50% drop. Vermilion Energy with 5 IT jobs and BASF with 5 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 400% growth, respectively, while AltaGas recorded an increase of 400% with 5 job postings during March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.49%, up by 42.86% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.55% share, registered an increase of 15.38% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.96% share, flat growth over February 2022.
