The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.84% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.28% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 0.35% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s oil & gas industry in November 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 31.82% in November 2021, registering a 12% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 30.68% share, an increase of 58.82% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 23.86%, registering a 75% rise from October 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.09%, down 27.27% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 63.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s oil & gas industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
Royal Dutch Shell posted 18 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 350% over the previous month, followed by John Wood Group with 11 jobs and a 266.67% growth. Suncor Energy with 8 IT jobs and Parkland with 7 jobs, recorded a 33.33% growth and a 40% growth, respectively, while TC Energy recorded a decline of 58.33% with 5 job postings during November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.59%, up by 40% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.32% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.95% share, down 12.5% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.14%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
