June 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.65% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.64% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering an increase of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 34.25% in June 2022, a 14.97% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 26.3% in June 2022, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 16.44% in June 2022, a 7.69% drop from May 2022.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 11.71% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during June 2022 over previous month.

Johnson Matthey posted 29 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by BP with 27 jobs and a 145.45% growth. BASF with 25 IT jobs and Shell with 23 jobs, recorded a 7.41% drop and a 54% drop, respectively, while Exxon Mobil recorded a 13.04% decline with 20 job postings during June 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 33.7% share in June 2022, an 8.21% decrease over May 2022. Germany featured next with a 14.52% share, down 15.87% over the previous month. Hungary recorded a 9.59% share, a growth of 29.63% compared with May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.41%, down by 8.87% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.18% share, registered a growth of 6.06% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.41% share, up 11.76% over May 2022.
