May 2022 has seen an increase of 2.12% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.47% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 42.51% in May 2022, a 0.94% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.86% in May 2022, marking a 25.58% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 19.43% in May 2022, an 11.11% drop from April 2022.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 20.69% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during May 2022 over previous month.

Shell posted 26 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 60.61% over the previous month, followed by TotalEnergies with 19 jobs and a 35.71% growth. Exxon Mobil with 19 IT jobs and BASF with 16 jobs, recorded an 18.75% rise and a 5.88% drop, respectively, while Koch Industries recorded a 300% increase with 12 job postings during May 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 31.98% share in May 2022, a 5.95% decrease over April 2022. Germany featured next with a 14.57% share, down 7.69% over the previous month. France recorded an 8.91% share, a drop of 29.03% compared with April 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.52%, down by 2.07% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.79% share, registered a decline of 13.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.69% share, flat growth over April 2022.
