September 2021 has seen an increase of 5.39% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.99% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering an increase of 0.47% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 57.35% in September 2021, a 35.26% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 16.18% in September 2021, marking a 34.69% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 15.2% in September 2021, an 8.77% rise from August 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 51.28% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Exxon Mobil posted 59 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 3.51% over the previous month, followed by Henkel AGKGaA with 40 jobs and a 263.64% growth. Baker Hughes Holdings with 29 IT jobs and Yara International with 27 jobs, recorded a 141.67% rise and a 3.57% drop, respectively, while Equinor recorded a 144.44% increase with 22 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry

Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 21.32% share in September 2021, a 1.14% decrease over August 2021. The UK featured next with an 18.14% share, up 60.87% over the previous month. Hungary recorded a 15.2% share, a growth of 10.71% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.38%, up by 29.77% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.85% share, registered a growth of 30.65% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.03% share, up 15.38% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.74%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
