March 2022 has seen a decrease of 4.85% in the overall hiring activity when compared with February 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.29% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in March 2022, registering an increase of 0.58% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in March 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 50.23% in March 2022, a 9.5% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 17.89% in March 2022, marking an 8.33% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 16.97% in March 2022, a 2.78% rise from February 2022.

Top five oil & gas companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 32.99% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s oil & gas industry during March 2022 over previous month.
Shell posted 27 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered an increase of 145.45% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes with 27 jobs and an 8% growth. BASF with 26 IT jobs and Exxon Mobil with 25 jobs, recorded a 3.7% drop and a 47.06% rise, respectively, while LyondellBasell Industries recorded a 41.18% increase with 24 job postings during March 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s oil & gas industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 21.33% share in March 2022, a 12.05% increase over February 2022. Germany featured next with a 19.95% share, down 17.92% over the previous month. Norway recorded a 7.8% share, a flat growth compared with February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.25%, up by 0.96% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.6% share, registered a growth of 11.48% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.24% share, down 36.36% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.92%, recording a month-on-month decline of 20%.
